Working together to reduce casualties

Speed limits

Speed limits

The first step is to set appropriate speed limits that road users can understand. If safety concerns remain due to a lack of compliance, then there is a range of measures which can be deployed.

Local speed limits

Local speed limits are set by the appropriate highway authority. For Trunk Roads in Norfolk (A11, A47 and A12) this is the national Highways Agency. For roads within the city of Norwich this is Norwich City Council. For all other roads in Norfolk it is the responsibility of Norfolk County Council
